Winter Honeymoon Ideas

Image
The other day, I received an email from my friend Marie, a former coworker of mine. She’s getting married in December and she’s looking for a winter honeymoon destination.  Here are the details: We are able to travel between December 18 or 19, 2010 and January 2, 2011 and I think we want to go to Europe.  My feeling is that a beach is an easier quick vacation that we can do anytime and we should take this chance to go somewhere a little more cultural and exciting.  Any ideas for European destinations that would be fun at that time of year?  I think we could fit three spots during that time.  I’d love to hear your advice or suggestions of some resources to use. Do I have ideas?!  Only about a million!  Here are a few winter honeymoon ideas: Perfect Winter Honeymoon Destinations Venice. I ALWAYS push for people to visit Venice during the winter.  I’ve been both during the winter and the summer, and winter is SO much better — it’s dark, gray...

Checking In: The Villas of Byron

Wearing: GRLFND Overalls The Villas of Byron For as long as I can remember Byron Bay has been on my list of places to explore. Surf, sun, sandy beaches and an endless supply of kombucha were on my agenda and believe me when I say I got what I came for. When researching where to stay and what to do for my long weekend in Byron, I was immediately taken by the Villas of Byron, a collection of luxurious Bali-inspired villas in a leafy residential street just a short walk to both the beach and the heart of town. Travelling to new cities and towns is a quickly evolving industry, with holiday homes and residential villas readily available on the likes of Airbnb and similar booking sites, but I have found more often than not that the added perks one gets from a hotel (shampoo and conditioner, yoga mats, beautiful coffee table books to spend hours perusing) are often overlooked. Enter the perfect happy medium: The Villas of Byron. There are a few different room types to select from rangin...

Checking In to Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge in Botswana

Image
Ever since my first safari in Kruger National Park four years ago, I’ve been looking for new wildlife experiences to match the excitement and anticipation that comes with viewing animals like lions, leopards and last year polar bears in their natural habitat. So when I began writing my 2018 travel itinerary and the destinations I wanted to tick off this year, I was quick to place Botswana on the top of my list for a unique safari experience in the Okavango Delta. However as is usually the case with any new country I visit, I have found myself planning subsequent trips almost right away, learning that there is much more to discover in Botswana beyond the Delta, yet after a week of adventuring these landscapes, I feel as if it was a good place to start! Arriving in Sandibe Flying to Sandibe will introduce you to the landscapes of Botswana before you even touch the ground. From Johannesburg it is approximately a 90-minute journey direct to Maun, the nearest city for international...
