A Must Do In Oslo: The Sunday Market

Image
Last week I went to Norway to visit friends and family, and decided that this time I was going to do some touristy stuff as well. One of the main things on my to-do-list when I visit a city is to go to thrift stores and flea markets, and Oslo was no exception. Instead of the standard souvenirs I love to find unique local, possibly weird and cheap treasures. So after a lazy Sunday breakfast, my friends and I headed over to the Sunday market at Blå in Oslo. Every Sunday from 12 to 17 you can go treasure hunting at this charming little market. You can find both homemade and second-hand clothes, jewelery, bags, ceramics, art and more. Blå is located in Brennerivn 9. More pictures and information about the market here. (In Norwegian). By night Blå is a good location for parties and concerts, have a look at the website here for the program. Happy shopping and don’t forget to taste the homemade waffles! Trof – the best hangout in Manchester

Image
Anyone who’s ever been a university student will be familiar with those mornings after long and eventful nights out: all you want to do is  crawl back under the sheets, but both the sunlight beaming through cracks in the curtain and the heap of books at the foot of your bed, waiting to be read, prevent you from doing so. Get up and out of bed and an incredible headache will grace you with it’s presence. Go back to sleep and you will feel absolutely lousy guilty all day long. If you’re fortunate enough to live in Manchester, you will never encounter this kind of a predicament. Why? Because of a magic little place called Trof . Step inside and soak up the unique atmosphere, a blend of alternative student bar and your best friend’s living room. Alone the random collection of ornaments and decorations adorning walls and ceiling point towards the multifunctional nature of this place. Trof doubles as a café and restaurant during the day and a bar/alternative musi...

Bhutan in December – What to Expect During Bhutan’s Winter

Image
Do you ever get some silent callings from certain places, beckoning for your visit? Ever since I had a wild idea to travel to the mysterious Bhutan, and I really went, I have not been able to forget Bhutan ever since. Bhutan in December – A Winter Unlike Others In the winter months from December till February, the temperature in Bhutan dips to the lowest. It was mid-December when I first travelled to Bhutan with Druk Asia – December already the mildest winter month among them three. I was glad we chose those dates (earlier I was in Japan to see Mount Fuji), because Bhutan gave me a deep impression ( and thousands of photos to edit ) from that near-perfect-weather trip. It’s all dramatic mountains of Bhutan.. Never have I seen mountains like Bhutan’s. Paro Airport’s carpark Paro Airport We arrived at dawn, already feeling the nerves having previewed the mountain peaks that surrounded our tiny selves. As our vehicle wove through the winding roads from Paro to T...
