Checking In: The Villas of Byron

Image
Wearing: GRLFND Overalls The Villas of Byron For as long as I can remember Byron Bay has been on my list of places to explore. Surf, sun, sandy beaches and an endless supply of kombucha were on my agenda and believe me when I say I got what I came for. When researching where to stay and what to do for my long weekend in Byron, I was immediately taken by the Villas of Byron, a collection of luxurious Bali-inspired villas in a leafy residential street just a short walk to both the beach and the heart of town. Travelling to new cities and towns is a quickly evolving industry, with holiday homes and residential villas readily available on the likes of Airbnb and similar booking sites, but I have found more often than not that the added perks one gets from a hotel (shampoo and conditioner, yoga mats, beautiful coffee table books to spend hours perusing) are often overlooked. Enter the perfect happy medium: The Villas of Byron. There are a few different room types to select from rangin...

The Ultimate Backpacker Guide to Cairns, Australia

Image
(This post contains affiliate links, for more information read this  privacy policy ) Hello guys! It’s me again, this time with another post that I am actually quite excited about! “Why?”, you ask. If you know me then you know that I am basically obsessed with Australia. I LOVE Australia, I want to live in Australia one day and pretty much my goal in life is to become Australian (not like that is ever going to happen). Maybe not to live, but from a backpacker’s perspective Cairns was the perfect place to be. And that is how the idea evolved of writing a backpacker guide to Cairns. You know the funny thing was that I never actually worked in Cairns and still managed to spent around 3 months in total in this beautiful little city. Not all at once. I tried to leave multiple times but I somehow a...

Sailing around the Whitsunday Islands

Image
It’s the one thing that you can not miss out on when traveling up or down Australia’s East Coast, apart from maybe Fraser Island: Sailing around the Whitsunday Islands! You might have heard about the infamous Whitehaven Beach, with sand so white you have never seen anything like it. There is a reason why parts of the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie was filmed in the Whitsundays. While I was in Australia for a total of around 9 months, I chose my very last days to travel down the coast. I like to live by the motto: Save the best for the end. Let it be the inner part of a pizza or travel destinations like in this case. I only had about a week to travel from Cairns to Brisbane, which for sure was not enough time and I missed out on a lot of stops on the way. Previous Travels Overall it has been quite stressful, I had just come back from my vacation in Bali the day before and right when I was about to arrive in Brisbane my flight to Singapore was leaving. The enormous dist...
